    Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run in Fort Hunt, Fairfax County police investigating

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — A man died after he was struck by a vehicle in Fairfax County on Thursday morning.

    Details about what led to the crash are limited; however, the Fairfax County Police Department said officers were on the scene of the deadly crash involving a pedestrian on Richmond Highway (Route 1) near Woodlawn Trail, in Fort Hunt, around 7:15 a.m.

    The pedestrian died there.

    Police said the driver who hit the man fled the area.

    As police continue their investigation, Route 1 is blocked off to all traffic at Belvoir Drive. Drivers are encouraged to use an alternative route, as of Thursday morning.
