Man in critical condition after crash in Mt. Vernon

FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Fairfax County Police Department said it was at the scene of a crash that left a man critically injured on Thursday afternoon.

Officers said the single-vehicle crash happened at Rt 1 and Janna Lee Avenue in Mt Vernon.

The driver, a man, was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition.

Police said speeding was a factor.

As of 1:19 p.m., Southbound Richmond Highway at Janna Lee Ave is closed.
