    Montgomery College unveils new STEM building named after former county executive

    TAKOMA PARK, Md. ( DC New Now ) — Montgomery College has officially opened the Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building at its Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus.

    The 108,000-square-foot facility, designed to enhance STEM education, was celebrated by college officials, local leaders, and state representatives as students began fall classes.

    The building features 20 advanced laboratories, a planetarium, and a cybersecurity center, offering hands-on learning opportunities in high-demand fields such as nursing, engineering, and cyber technology.

    Named after former County Executive Isiah Leggett and his wife Catherine, the facility honors their dedication to the college and its students.

    The Catherine and Isiah Leggett Math and Science Building is part of Montgomery College’s ongoing efforts to expand STEM programs, equipping students with the tools to build their futures.
