MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Montgomery County firefighters and state troopers blocked off several lanes on Interstate 495 after a tractor-trailer crashed and fuel spilled on Monday morning.

Maryland State Police told DC News Now that shortly after 6 a.m., troopers were called to I-495 and Old Georgetown Road for a jackknifed tractor-trailer.

State police said their preliminary investigation indicates that a tractor-trailer, for unknown reasons, swerved off the road and hit a guardrail.

The impact of the crash caused fuel to spill across the highway.

    There were no reported injuries.

State police said a hazmat crew was called to the scene and assisted with the fuel spill.

As of 7:32 a.m., several lanes on I-495 were closed, and traffic was backed up for several miles. In an update late Monday morning, all lanes on the highway reopened to traffic.
