PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — The Prince William County Police Department (MCPD) is investigating a single-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of two people on Tuesday afternoon.

On Oct. 1, around 2:11 p.m., investigators with the Crash Investigation Unit responded to a collision on Interstate 66’s West express exit ramp in Gainesville.

Reston man arrested for stealing over $6,500 in lottery tickets, police say

During the investigation, police learned that a 75-year-old Sterling man was driving a 2023 Audi Q5 in the express lanes when he took the exit toward University Boulevard. Police said as the driver came to the end of the ramp, he allegedly failed to slow down or turn onto University Boulevard and continued straight through the intersection.

The Audi continued across all travel lanes before slamming into a concrete barrier.

Police said responders took two passengers, Alfredo Rodolfo Sobrero, 90, of Sterling, and Liliana Nora Loschiavo Sierra, 67, of Woodbridge, to the hospital where they died.

The driver was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the driver and Sobrero, who was sitting in the front seat, were both wearing their seatbelts.

    The crash remains under investigation.

There comes a time when driving privileges should be revoked. These people are too old to be riding let alone driving.
