WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — D.C. police arrested a woman Wednesday for calling 911 multiple times to report fake emergencies.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) arrested Angela Herring, 58, for making four 911 calls with false reports, which started last year.

October marks Domestic Violence Awareness Month: A Call to Action

MPD said she made the following false reports:

    1. Aug. 30, 2023: Herring called 911 to report a fight, gave a description of the people involved and asked for police and DC Fire and EMS. When officers arrived they determined that there was no fight.
    2. Nov. 22, 2023: Herring called 911 and reported a person “using chemicals.” She asked for police and DC Fire and EMS to respond. When police arrived, they didn’t find a chemical use event to have occurred.
    3. May 10, 2024: Herring called 911 for the report of hearing gunshots and a man with a gun holding a child. When officers arrived, they determined that a shooting did not occur and there was no armed suspect around.
    4. July 11, 2024: Herring called 911 to report that someone had been shot. She gave a description of the people who were involved but when police arrived, they determined there was no shooting or injuries.

Herring was charged with four counts of Abuse of 911 by the false reporting of a critical incident (Misdemeanor).
