FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Looking to expand your family? Well, then sweet Tiger could be the one for you!

Tiger has been at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter for over a year, waiting for a new place to call home.

“For an entire year, we’ve watched this sweet dog wait for a family to call his own,” the shelter stated in a Facebook post . “As much as our staff and volunteers enjoy seeing his face every day, Tiger should be spending his days being pampered in a loving home.”

The big, quirky 10-year-old boy’s foster mom said he’s “very sweet” and loves being around his people. He’s low maintenance and enjoys going on short walks.

The shelter shared these observations about Tiger:

    • He’s a quick learner! He knows sit, stay, paw, down and turn around.
    • He’s crate-trained and sleeps through the night.
    • He prefers shorter walks where he can follow his nose.
    • He’s very food-motivated and loves to learn.
    • He enjoys playtime but often prefers pets and belly rubs.
    • He’s very low-maintenance.
    • He appreciates a slow introduction when he meets new people.

Adopters will also go home with a care package, specifically curated for Tiger.

Emily, one of the shelter’s former caretakers, went abroad for the summer and when she came back and saw that Tiger was still looking for a home, she brought a care package for him and his future family.

The package includes his favorite toys, a dog bed, treats, a harness and more.

“I got some Tiger-approved items and made posters to showcase his charm,” Emily shared in the shelter’s Facebook post . “He’s made lots more friends and learned impressive new tricks since I left. He’s so sharp and full of love! If Tiger is the right fit for you, you’ll be taking home an amazing new best friend!”
