    2 men charged with murder of Silver Spring man

    PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Police in Prince George’s County said the department’s homicide unit arrested and charged two men with murder in connection to the shooting of a 35-year-old man in Silver Spring last month.

    According to police, on Sept. 14 at around 4 p.m., officers responded to the 9200 block of New Hampshire Ave. for a shooting.

    Once on the scene, they found Carlos Alberto Ortiz, 35, of Silver Spring, Md., in a wooded area with gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

    A preliminary investigation revealed that 27-year-old William Jaminton Pavon-Mancock of Silver Spring shot Ortiz during a dispute and that they knew each other, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department (PGPD).

    Authorities charged Pavon-Mancock and 24-year-old Jimmy Hernandez-Morales with first and second-degree murder and other related charges.

    The Department of Corrections has both men in custody on a no-bond status.
