    Fairfax County Animal Shelter waives fees to help pets displaced by Hurricane Milton

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Fairfax County Animal Shelter is trying to make space for pets impacted by Hurricane Milton by waiving adoption fees for large dogs who are 45 lbs and over from Oct. 10-13.

    Montgomery County 911 call center struggles with staff shortages, rising calls

    Last week, the shelter partnered with Homeward Trail Rescue, a shelter in North Carolina that was impacted by Hurricane Helene.

    You can meet the adoptable pets at both of the shelter’s locations:

    • The Michael R. Frey campus at West Ox Rd.
    • Lorton Campus at 8875 Lorton Rd.
