MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia battled with top-10 Kansas for a set, but eventually, the Jayhawks took over, just as they have all season.

No. 8 Kansas (13-1, 4-0 Big 12) came into Morgantown and took down WVU (6-10, 0-5 Big 12) in straight sets Thursday night at the WVU Coliseum.

The Mountaineers and Jayhawks combined to swap leads five times in an action-packed first set of the match. WVU outside hitter Hailey Green, who started the match on the bench, led all players with five kills in the set. Green’s last kill of the opening set gave WVU a 16-13 lead.

The Jayhawks would get hot, though, and Kansas ended the set on a 12-4 run to secure the win and take a 1-0 lead in the set count.

From that point on, Kansas dominated, and it only trailed one more time early in the third set. The Jayhawks won the second set 25-18 and the third set 25-17 to claim their eighth three-set sweep of the season and their second three-set sweep in Big 12 play.

Green led all players in total attacks (27), while WVU libero Sydney Reed recorded a match-high 14 digs.

WVU will stay at home to take on Kansas State (4-9, 2-2 Big 12) Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET at the WVU Coliseum.
