Fire tears through Montgomery County garage

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — A fire tore through a garage in Montgomery County’s Lakewood Estates on Friday evening.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) crews responded to a single-family home in the 13600 block of Cherrydale Dr., off of Glenn Mill Road.

A “significant” fire broke out in the home’s garage there, Pete Piringer, a spokesman for MCFRS, said in a post on X shortly after 6:30 p.m. Emergency crews received a call about it at around 6:20 p.m.

Luckily, everyone was able to get out of the home and no injuries were reported.

About 75 firefighters were at the scene.
