BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. ( DC News Now ) — Berkeley Springs is hosting its annual Apple Butter Festival this weekend.

Just down Route 522 in Morgan County, the festival celebrates mountain culinary culture, music, arts and crafts.

“We have such amazing crafters from all over,” festival organizer, Happy Rone, said. “Some are local but some are from states and states away.”

No one will go hungry at the weekend gathering, either, Rone insists.

“We have several dozen fabulous food vendors,” Rone said. “We have West Virginia beer crafters, a wine and spirits garden and music from award-winning bands.”

The Apple Butter Festival starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.

And just across the Potomac, in Hancock, Md., Betty Lou’s Lounge welcomes Maryland native Gregg Wright, a guitarist who toured with Michael Jackson and the Allman Brothers Band.

“I grew up in Maryland,” Wright said. “I went to high school in Maryland. So here I am. During the Victory Tour, which came through D.C. — one of the cities we came through — it was back during the Thriller period. I was the lead guitarist on that tour.”

Wright met Gregg and Duane Allman while working at a Los Angeles music shop. They recruited Wright to tour with them.

The group will hit the stage at Betty Lou’s lat Friday afternoon and plans to jam well into the evening.
