ARLINGTON, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Police have arrested an 18-year-old man in connection to a crash that left one dead in Tara-Leeway Heights on Saturday, according to the Arlington County Police Department (ACPD).

ACPD said that just before 2 a.m., police and fire personnel were dispatched to the 2200 block of N. Harrison St. for a single-vehicle crash.

Once on scene, medics immediately began treating a passenger from the vehicle, who was suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Responders then took the passenger, identified as Nicholas Rados, 19, of Arlington, Va., to the hospital, where he died.

A preliminary investigation indicates that Brooks Bare, 18, of Arlington, Va., was driving the car northbound on N. Harrison St. when he struck several parked, unoccupied vehicles on the side of the roadway, causing his car to overturn.

According to police, Bare, Rados and three others were inside the car when it crashed. Responders took one of the passengers to a hospital with minor injuries, but they have since been released.

Medics evaluated Bare and two of the passengers on the scene.

Investigators determined that alcohol was a factor in the crash, according to police.

As a result, officers arrested Bare, charging him with DUI/Involuntary Manslaughter and Breath/Blood Test Refusal. He is being held without bond in the Arlington County Detention facility.

The investigation is ongoing. Police encourage anyone with information to contact detective D. Gilmore at dgilmore@arlingtonva.us or 703-228-4049.

Information can also be reported anonymously at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
