    FINAL: WVU falls 28-16 to No. 11 Iowa State

    MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The matchup between the West Virginia University football team (3-2, 2-0 Big 12) and Iowa State (5-0, 2-0 Big 12) is officially underway.

    FOURTH QUARTER

    FINAL: WVU falls 28-16 to No. 11 Iowa State.

    WVU TOUCHDOWN (1:10) : Greene finds Jahiem White on a touchdown pass. The two-point conversion fails. WVU trails 28-16.

    IOWA STATE TOUCHDOWN (4:42) : Hansen finds paydirt for the third time. The Cyclones lead 28-10.

    WVU INTERCEPTION: Greene throws his second pick of the day.

    IOWA STATE TOUCHDOWN (11:57) : WVU’s third-down stop is nullified by a defensive holding call, and Hansen rushes in his second score of the game one play later. Iowa State leads 21-10.

    THIRD QUARTER

    END THIRD: Same score as Iowa State leads 14-10 with the ball.

    IOWA STATE INTERCEPTION (2:00): With WVU driving deep in Iowa State territory, Greene’s pass is picked off and returned to the ISU 35-yard line.

    5:21: Iowa State punts, and WVU will start at its own 14-yard line.

    6:16: Iowa State calls a timeout ahead of second-and-ten from its own 49-yard line.

    9:10: WVU punts after an incompletion on third-and-medium. It looked like Greene may have been able to pick up a first down if he ran it. Iowa State takes over at its own 12-yard line.

    12:11: Iowa State converts on third-and-medium, but it gets stopped on third-and-long thanks to a nice pass breakup from Garnett Hollis Jr. WVU takes over at its own 24-yard line after a punt.

    15:00: Iowa State will start with the ball.

    SECOND QUARTER

    HALF: WVU trails 14-10 at the break.

    WVU FIELD GOAL (0:32) : Hayes redeems himself with a 43-yard field goal. Iowa State leads 14-10.

    0:37: Iowa State calls timeout after a fruitless third-down attempt from WVU.

    0:49: Another WVU timeout. Third-and-one coming up.

    1:00: Neal Brown burns his first timeout ahead of WVU’s second-and-five attempt from Iowa State’s 26-yard line.

    1:50: Huge pickup to Kole Taylor sets WVU up at the ISU 45-yard line.

    2:00: WVU will have third-and-four from its own 31-yard line after the two-minute timeout.

    IOWA STATE TOUCHDOWN (2:39) : Cyclones running back Carson Hansen caps off a 91-yard drive from Iowa State that took over eight minutes off the clock. Iowa State leads 14-7.

    2:43: Injury timeout for an Iowa State player. The Cyclones have second-and-10 from the WVU 11-yard line after the break.

    7:30: Iowa State is driving. First down at its own 31-yard line.

    10:47: WVU gets behind the sticks again and will have to punt. Oliver Straw punts to the Iowa State nine-yard line.

    12:05: The Mountaineers are at midfield after they convert on third and long on a completion to Traylon Ray.

    13:05: WVU will start on its own 25-yard line.

    IOWA STATE TOUCHDOWN (13:05) : Cyclones receiver Jaylin Noel finds a gap in the WVU coverage down the seam and takes a 60-yard completion to the house. This one is all tied up at 7-7.

    WVU MISSED FIELD GOAL (14:03): Hayes’ 36-yarder is no good. WVU still leads 7-0.

    14:07: After a review, the pass to Gallagher III will be ruled incomplete. Fourth down coming up for WVU.

    14:32: First and goal for WVU after a nine-yard third-down completion to Rodney Gallagher III.

    FIRST QUARTER

    END FIRST: WVU leads 7-0 and will have first down from the Iowa State 25-yard line to start the second quarter.

    2:04: Another keeper from Greene gives WVU a first down at midfield.

    IOWA STATE MISSED FIELD GOAL (3:27): A sack from WVU defensive lineman Asani Redwood forces a field goal attempt from the Cyclones. The 47-yarder missed wide left.

    7:11: Rocco Becht flips the field on the first play of Iowa State’s drive with a 37-yard completion.

    WVU TOUCHDOWN (7:18) : Jahiem White makes a couple moves and finds paydirt on an eight-yard score. Michael Hayes drills the PAT. WVU leads 7-0.

    8:36: First down for WVU at the ISU 11-yard line after a scramble from Greene.

    10:13: Injury timeout for Iowa State. Second-and-seven incoming for WVU.

    11:00: A pair of first downs from CJ Donaldson set up WVU at the Iowa State 41-yard line.

    13:53: WVU converts on third down on a completion from Greene to Hudson Clement just past the line-to-gain.

    15:00: Touchback. Garrett Greene and co. start at the 25.

    15:00: WVU wins the toss and elects to receive.
