CHARLES COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) — Deputies are looking for a 5-year-old boy who has autism and is non-verbal after he went missing in Charles County on Sunday morning, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

According to CCSO, at 11 a.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of St. Pauls Drive, located in the Bannister neighborhood in Waldorf, for the report of a missing child.

Home security footage showed the child, Miles McMahon, leaving the house and skipping in his front yard. In the footage, he wore a red shirt with no shoes or pants.

Family members searched the area and called 911 when they could not find McMahon. Responding officers established a perimeter and immediately focused their search on nearby bodies of water.

The CCSO Search Management Team, members of the La Plata police and the Charles County dive team responded. The Maryland State Police helicopter section and drone team members were also activated to aid the search.

As of Sunday night, police K-9 and bloodhounds continue to scan the area in search of the boy.

The sheriff’s office asks anyone in the area to search their yard, pool, shrubs, trees, sheds and small hiding places. Police also said that anyone searching for McMahon should not enter anyone’s yard and should stay clear of where the search team is working, which is in the area of St. Pauls Drive and Piney Church Road.

Authorities also urge residents to check their home security cameras and contact the sheriff’s office with any information.

McMahon is 4 feet tall and weighs around 60 lbs. Anyone who sees him should call 911.
