MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — WVU men’s soccer is once again the consensus No. 1 team in the nation as it begins the home stretch of the regular season.

The Mountaineers regained the grasp on the No. 1 ranking in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Tuesday afternoon. This marks the third week this season the Mountaineers have held the top spot in the NCAA-recognized poll for Division I men’s soccer.

WVU replaces Pitt at No. 1 in this week’s poll. Those are the only two programs who have spent three weeks at the top of the poll this season.

WVU’s in-state rival Marshall is No. 3 in this week’s United Soccer Coaches poll. The Mountaineers and Thundering Herd are also tied atop the Sun Belt Conference standings with 10 points through four league contests.

Additionally, the Mountaineers hold the No. 1 ranking in the latest national poll from TopDrawerSoccer , which was revealed Monday.

WVU returns to action Tuesday night, concluding the nonconference portion of its schedule at Dayton. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

The Mountaineers are also slated to play a home match as the No. 1 team in the country for the first time in their 64-year history Saturday when they host South Carolina at 1 p.m. in a critical Sun Belt match.
