MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. ( DC News Now ) – Election Day is 20 days away, and on Wednesday, the Montgomery County Board of Elections representatives provided information to voters to ensure their vote is counted in this year’s election.

The board’s President, David Naimon, said there are three ways of voting this election cycle.

“We have mail-in ballots,” Naimon said, “We have early voting and we have Election Day.”

As of Wednesday, the Board of Elections has sent out 166,000 mail-in ballots.

“We’ve received about 51,000 of those so far back,” Naimon said.

People have until Oct. 29 to request a mail-in ballot, and they’re due by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Naimon is urging voters not to delay turning them in.

“We’re required to reject it if it’s a minute late,” he said.

Early voting in Maryland starts on Oct. 24 and goes until Oct. 31.

“You can do your early voting at any of the early voting sites,” Montgomery County Board of Elections secretary, Amie Hoeber, said, “No matter where you live in the county. This is not true for Election Day voting.”

There are 14 early voting sites throughout the county. For those who choose to vote in person on Election Day, officials said you must be in line at your designated voting precinct before 8 p.m.

“We are required to cut the line at 8 p.m.,” Hoeber said. “If you are in line by then, you are still entitled to vote.”
