A new Facebook page monitoring thousands of fracking-related accidents and cleanups happening nearly every day over the last nine years challenges the Ohio gas and oil industry’s claims that it’s environmentally-friendly. Urbana FFA chapter attends National Washington Leadership Conference
Urbana FFA chapter attends National Washington Leadership Conference. This was the first time since 2018 that Urbana FFA has attended the Washington Leadership Conference (WLC). Students that attended were Sam Wilhelm (Urbana FFA President), Bryce Stambaugh (Urbana FFA Vice President), Brooklyn Randall (Urbana FFA Reporter), and Lauren Stollings (Urbana FFA Sentinel). On July 9 at 4:30 pm members arrived. ¨WLC inspires FFA members to become changemakers in their communities. Each day of the conference focuses on a different principle taught through the context of our nation’s capital. These principles include exploration, encouragement, advocacy, and service. At the end of the week, members leave with a Living to Serve Plan they can implement in their communities¨ (National FFA Website).

$2M grant helps Troy get one step closer to starting Great Miami River Project
TROY, Ohio (WKEF) -- The City of Troy received another grant, this time from the state's 2024 capital budget to go toward the Great Miami River Recreation Connectivity project. The grant is for $2 million. The project now needs less than $1 million more to reach enough funding to cover the estimated cost of it.

Lima Police Department investigating body found in wooded area downtown
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - The Lima Police Department is investigating a body found Monday afternoon. Around 12:30 p.m., police received a report of a body found in a wooded area on the corner of Jackson and Market Street, beside the train tracks. The body had been there for a significant amount of time and appeared to be male. There were no signs of a struggle or clues as to the cause of death where it was found. The deceased individual was sent to the Lucas County Coroner to determine their identity and cause of death, but a report may not be complete for several weeks.

Northwestern Field Hockey Welcomes Seven New Joiners for 2024 Season
Northwestern Field Hockey will add seven members to the 2024 roster, including top recruits like Juliana Boon, Anna Krebs, and Eva Nemeth, as announced by Head Coach Tracey Fuchs.
