Majority of Beaumont ISD campuses receive D, F ratings in latest state assessment
BEAUMONT, Texas — Several Beaumont ISD campuses received failing and nearly failing grades following the release of the latest assessments from the Texas Education Agency. Nine campuses, including six elementary and three middle schools, received failing grades while seven campuses, including five elementary, one high school and an alternative campus received a D grade, according to district spokesperson Jackie Simien.

Beaumont — The most recent preliminary STAAR test results for 2023-2024 show BISD getting a D and 16 of 23 BISD campuses scoring a D or F on the STAAR test, but the district says there are a number of reasons for those results and points to improvements in several key areas that outpace other results across Texas. Dr. Shannon Allen, the BISD superintendent, tells KFDM/Fox 4 News the results are preliminary and they expect final numbers soon that could change some of the outcomes.

Grand jury indicts man, woman in elderly Benton's man shooting death
BENTON, La. – Robbery was the apparent motive in the death of an elderly Shreveport man who was gunned down outside of a house as his wife and daughter were inside. Those accused in the crime – Delandro Fleming, 22, and Destiny Shante Landers, 23, both of Shreveport -- were indicted Friday by a Bossier Parish grand jury for second-degree murder in Wilmer Monette’s death on June 13.
