Women die in rollover motorcycle crash

Two women died in a motorcycle accident Tuesday in Comanche County, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety media release Thursday.

The driver, Leslie Renae Mitchell, 54, of De Leon and passenger Nancy Menzdorf Chapman, 68, of Stephenville were pronounced deceased by Comanche County Justice of the Peace Johnny Connie.

The women were traveling south on FM Road 1496, six miles northwest of De Leon, around 1 p.m. when the driver "drove across the northbound lane and into the shoulder, crossing a private driveway," according to the DPS.

Investigators believe the driver experienced a medical issue that led to her losing control and crashing into a mailbox, which caused the vehicle to roll and throw both women off.

Both women were not wearing helmets.
