Leo is one-and-a-half-years old and was alone and hurt, seeking shelter in a garage in Bondurant before Kristin Riding Coffman, a volunteer at Rescue Rehab Rehome, rescued him.

Iowa Hereford breeders to honor Tiernan at state fair
The late Eric Tiernan of Stuart is one of three longtime Hereford breeders to be honored by the Iowa Hereford Breeders Association (IHBA) during the Iowa State Fair. In a ceremony on Wednesday, Aug. 14, the Iowa Hereford Breeders Association (IHBA) will dedicate a custom-created barn quilt given in memory of Tiernan; Dan McFarland, Fredericksburg; and Ray Sorensen, Fontanelle. The event will take place at 3 p.m. on the west side of the Gammon Barn on the Iowa State Fairgrounds, followed by an ice cream social in the Sheri Avis Horner Pavilion just north of the barn museum.
Iowa Lottery announces record annual sales
The Iowa Lottery says that it saw record sales of $489.9 million in the just-completed 2024 fiscal year. The Iowa Lottery released annual its unaudited sales results Tuesday, finding that sales had increased by 1.7% from the previous year, beating the previous sales record. Proceeds from the lottery to the state totaled nearly $107 million, according to a press release. While proceeds saw a decrease of roughly 1.6% from FY 2023, the lottery reported it was the second-highest total for proceeds in a year, behind $108.4 million in FY 2023.
