1st Annual Kids Expo on Saturday, August 10th
The Lawrence Schools Foundation is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Kids Expo on Saturday, August 10th from 9:00am – 1:00 pm. We have created an opportunity to invite local businesses and organizations to help us support and celebrate our Lawrence Public School students and families within our community. The event will include free screenings, educational opportunities, free shoes, haircuts and back to school supplies as well as prize drawings and free giveaways, food, entertainment and more!
Lawrence school board to consider approving teacher raises, handbook that bans cell phone usage
Lawrence teachers could receive raises and several staff members stipend increases this fall, based on the tentative contract up for the school board’s approval Monday. Lawrence Education Association, the district’s teachers union, came to an agreement with the district during a negotiations meeting on June 25. The tentative contract for 2024-25 increases the base annual salary by $1,400 for teachers.

The study by LendingTree used insurance claim data from the 50 largest cities in the U.S. to determine how many traffic incidents were speeding-related. KANSAS CITY—A teen driver died after an accident just before 5a.m. Saturday in Jackson County, Missouri. According to police, a Nissan Altima driven by 18-year-old Joshua Snowbarger was southbound on Noland Road, approaching 35th Street in Independence. The driver lost control of the car.
