Why KU football players are 'excited' to play games on grass this fall
For the first time in a very long time, the Kansas football program will play more than half of its games on grass. The Jayhawks are set to play eight of their 12 regular-season games on grass surfaces this season. Between home games at Children's Mercy Park and Arrowhead Stadium, all six of KU's home contests will be played on grass. But, road games at Arizona State and BYU will also be played on grass.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The cut-off low-pressure system that has lingered throughout the Missouri River Valley through the weekend has now disorganized itself into a broad wave of energy. Doing so it has weakened dramatically but still lingers across the area. With minor mid-level ridging, the wind will remain light through the morning into the afternoon. This may present patchy dense fog for the early morning drive to work so please take caution in through mid-morning. Overall, chances for thunderstorm activity are unlikely however there are small opportunities for scattered showers between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. Afternoon temperatures are expected in the lower 80s but will gradually increase through the next few days as a Southerly flow takes over and a ridge of warmer air develops out of the west.

Teen driver dies after crash into Kansas City area building
KANSAS CITY—A teen driver died after an accident just before 5a.m. Saturday in Jackson County, Missouri. According to police, a Nissan Altima driven by 18-year-old Joshua Snowbarger was southbound on Noland Road, approaching 35th Street in Independence. The driver lost control of the car. It traveled off the road and struck a nearby business.
