KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Current will have a two-time NWSL Defender of the Year finalist anchoring their back line when they begin training this week. On Monday, the Current announced they’d acquired Seattle Reign defender Alana Cook in exchange for $40,000 in allocation money and $75,000 in intra-league transfer funds. The Current will exchange an additional $25,000 in intra-league transfer funds if Cook meets certain incentive-based requirements, the club said.

Wichita man sentenced to 13 years in jail for dismembering cats, other charges
WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A 31-year-old Wichita man has been sentenced to 13 years in the county jail for dismembering cats and domestic-related charges. The Sedgwick County district attorney's office said Judge Eric Williams on Monday sentenced Logan Cavender to one year for each of the 13 counts and ran the sentenced consecutively. Cavender pleaded no contest in May to 10 felony counts of animal cruelty, two misdemeanor counts of stalking and a misdemeanor count of breach of privacy.
