LINCOLN — Nebraska renters would get some financial relief in the form of an income tax credit under a pair of proposals to be considered by the Legislature. State Sens. Terrell McKinney of North Omaha and Eliot Bostar of Lincoln each introduced a bill Thursday seeking to compensate renters who otherwise would not automatically reap any direct benefit from property tax reforms being pushed by Gov. GRAND ISLAND, Neb. -- A central Nebraska woman is in jail after police say she tried to kill her sister. According to Grand Island Police, officers responded to a belated report of an assault with a knife on Thursday. Officials say Julissa Trevino assaulted a 21-year-old woman on July 15 around 8:00 p.m. A news release said Trevino attacked her sister with a butcher knife after a verbal altercation.
