Néstor Carbonell has won Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his turn in FX’s Shōgun .

“This is overwhelming,” he told Deadline after his win. “When you work as an actor as long as I have, the role is a gift. Some years are good, some years you try to piece them together. You count your blessings when you are working. This is meaningful to me because my first job in TV was as a guest star on Law & Order . So it’s a little full circle today. As soon as [tonight’s over], I hop on a plane to finish directing an episode of Law & Order. So this is incredibly meaningful to me.”

Shortly after Carbonell clinched the award, Shōgun ‘s casting team won the Emmy for Casting for a Drama Series. The project’s costume team also celebrated a win for Period Costumes for a Series. (You can keep up-to-date on the winners here .)

Carbonell is arguably most known for his role as Richard Alpert in Lost , which he was in from 2007 through 2010. He was also in The Dark Knight and The Dark Knight Rises opposite Gary Oldman in the Christopher Nolan classic, as Mayor Anthony Garcia. He also appeared in Bates Motel in a long arc as Sheriff Alex Romero. In addition to Shōgun , he is featured in Apple TV+’s The Morning Show opposite a star-studded cast led by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon.

An edited presentation of the Creative Arts Emmys will air Saturday, Sept. 14 at 8 P.M. on FXX. With tonight’s second night, held in downtown Los Angeles’ Peacock Theater, 48 more Emmys will be handed out in categories that vary from guest actress in a drama to picture editing for an anthology. Stunt people, hairstylists, production designers, choreographers and costume designers will get their due. The best TV movie will also be honored today.

Meanwhile, an additional 25 awards will be handed out at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 15. ABC will air that show live coast-to-coast starting at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET, also from the Peacock Theater.
