EXCLUSIVE : In a competitive situation, ABC has landed for development Sisters-in-Law, a multi-camera comedy created by former The New Adventures of Old Christine executive producers Sherry Bilsing Graham and Ellen Kreamer, with a significant penalty. Sisters-in-Law hails from A+E Studios, marking a rare half-hour project — and first multi-cam sitcom — from the company behind such dramas as ABC’s Big Sky and Netflix’s The Lincoln Lawyer .

In the comedy, two sisters-in-law who are struggling to get along finally bond together when they are faced with a common enemy: a new third sister-in-law.

Graham and Kreamer executive produce alongside A+E Studios’ Barry Jossen and Tana Nugent Jamieson.

Sisters-in-Law stems from an exploratory meeting Nugent Jamieson had with Graham and Kreamer where the duo pitched several ideas. Nugent Jamieson and Jossen, who has extensive experience in network comedy — including multi-cam – from his time as EVP at ABC Studios, had been looking to add comedies to A+E Studios’ roster.

They took out Sisters-in-Law , garnering interest from ABC, CBS and NBC. The project ultimately landed at ABC, whose parent Disney co-owns A+E Studios parent A+E Networks.

ABC has been making a push in multi-camera comedy. Its 2024 comedy pilots were both multi-cam, with one, Tim Allen’s Shifting Gears , picked up to series for this upcoming season.

Graham and Kreamer previously created and executive produced the Fox comedy series I Hate My Teenage Daughter. Their credits also include stints on ABC’s American Housewife as well as NBC’s Friends spinoff Joey and Trial & Error.
