EXCLUSIVE: Westworld alums Denise Thé and Desa Larkin-Boutté are reteaming to work on The Getaway, the series adaptation of Lamar Giles’ YA novel, produced by Don Cheadle, which is in development at Sony Pictures TV.

Thé has been tapped to pen the series adaptation and produce via her Third Rail Productions as part of her deal with Sony Pictures Television, and Larkin-Boutté has been brought on to co-write.

The near-future horror drama contemplates what would happen if the world fell into chaos, and you and your family were stuck working at one of the world’s most famous resorts – with some of the world’s richest and most powerful as guests. Unknown to employees, the resort has been selling shares in an end-of-the-world oasis, to have the best of the best at the end of days. What they didn’t count on was a group of teens, and how far they’ll go to find out the truth and save themselves.

Cheadle and his producing partner Karyn Smith-Forge will executive produce via Cheadle’s Radicle Act.

Thé, along with veteran TV writer/producers Melissa Scrivner Love and Amanda Segel, recently launched their production company Third Rail and secured a first look deal with Sony TV.  She served as executive producer and writer on HBO’s Westworld on Seasons 3 and 4 from 2020 to 2022. Larkin-Boutté served as assisant/writer with Thé on Westworld where she and Thé co-wrote the series’ penultimate episode, “Metanoia”. Larkin-Boutté’s other credits include Better Call Saul and The Walking Dead.

Giles is repped by UTA and Jamie Weiss Chilton at Andrea Brown Literary; Cheadle is repped by UTA; Thé is repped by CAA and Felker Toczek Suddleson; Larkin-Boutté is repped by Dustin Alpern & Conrad Sun at SunDust Management.
