Several loose threads at the end of Emily in Paris Season 3 will feature more prominently in Season 4 Part 1 of Darren Star’s Netflix series.

As the ensemble cast of Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), Sylvie Grateau (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Mindy Chen (Ashley Park), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Camille (Camille Razat), Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) and more come back together for the fourth installment of the soapy Netflix show, viewers may be wondering what happened in Season 3 of Emily in Paris . The ten-episode third season came out at the end of 2022, and the fourth season was delayed by the double strikes in Hollywood.

A recap of what to remember ahead of the first half of Emily in Paris Season 4 awaits below.

    Business Decisions

At the beginning of Season 3, Emily faced the tough choice between staying on at Savoir with a very pregnant Madeline (Kate Walsh) or jumping ship for Sylvie’s new group – Agence Grateau. In the first episode, Emily works for both of them without telling the other because she can’t make up her mind. This eventually gets in the way of her being with Alfie, who is set to move back to London. He goes willingly and breaks things off with Emily.

Emily ultimately makes her choice between bosses when Madeline tries to get her to move back to Chicago, and Emily wants to stay in Paris. Sylvie had fired Emily once she learned Emily was still helping Sylvie, but she took her back. She later discovers that Alfie has also stayed in Paris to work for Antoine Lambert (William Abadie) as his new CFO. Antoine finances Gabriel’s restaurant Chez Lavaux as well.

    Mindy’s Musical Career

After busking in the streets with Étienne (Jin Xuan Mao) and Benoît (Kevin Dias), Mindy lands a gig performing at a nightclub called La Trompette Bleu, but solo. Benoît visits her before her first two shows, but he can’t make it the third time.

Not only does Mindy see a change in her professional life, but she also experiences one in her personal life when Benoît gets jealous of Mindy’s past with Nicolas de Leon, who comes into the picture when his father’s company JVMA acquires Pierre Cadault’s (Jean-Christophe Bouvet) business. Mindy and Nicolas reconnect, and Emily’s marketing obsession leads to a song Benoît wrote for Mindy to be pitched for a JVMA product. Benoît ghosts Mindy after they perform “Shallow” at the nightclub together, and she gets with Nicolas.

    Alfie’s Housewarming Party

Emily gets Alfie back by putting herself out there and singing “What’s It All About, Alfie?” at one of Mindy’s last busking sessions. He hosts a party at his flat, which is where Benoît first grows warry of Nicolas. Emily also walks in on Camille (Camille Razat) kissing a client of hers Sofia (Melia Kreiling), who has just had an art show at the gallery where Camille works.

    Camille Goes To Greece

Camille agrees to visit Greece with Sofia, and while they are gone, Gabriel gets really drunk, and he confesses to Emily that he is still in love with her. He also worries that Camille is drifting away from him, but he thinks she might be with another guy in Greece, not Sofia.

    Sylvie’s Love Life

Sylvie asks her husband Laurent Grateau (Arnaud Binard) to come help her figure out all the paperwork she needs to fill out to get Agence Grateau (her new marketing firm) off the ground, and this starts to get on the nerves of her current boyfriend Erik de Groot (Søren Bregendal). Later, at an event for Antoine’s Maison Laveaux, which launches a lavender perfume alongside the exclusive launch of only so many purple McLarens, Erik breaks up with Sylvie because Laurent was invited to the event. They talk about their marriage and whether it is time for a divorce until a swarm of bees chases them into a swimming pool.

    Trouble in Pierre-adise

JVMA and Pierre Cadault do not see eye to eye creatively, and Nicolas wants Grégory Deprée (Jeremy O. Harris) to take over the brand since Pierre technically sold his name to JVMA. Here it should be mentioned that while Sylvie was transitioning to her own agency, Nicolas tried to recruit her to do in-house marketing for the firm, but she expressed that she did not want to return to the firm because of Nicolas’ father Louis, whose behavior towards female colleagues was a big problem. Later, her husband gets a Paris club financed by Louis to open in the French capitol city.

Pierre works with Sylvie and Emily and co. to fake his death before an event where Grégory is set to take over the brand, and Nicolas becomes furious with Emily for helping Pierre take back his name. This rift isn’t repaired until the finale of Season 3.

    The Ami Ad

Ami wants a marketing campaign from Agence Grateau as one of Julien’s (Samuel Arnold) clients. Emily pitches a proposal to elevate the brand, and it turns out she knows just the couple to star — Gabriel and Camille. Gabriel wants to propose to Camille now that she is back from Greece because they opened up to each other, or so he told Emily. Unfortunately, Camille takes the words out of Gabriel’s mouth one day, and Emily and Alfie end up starring in the advertisement instead, kissing in some hot air balloons.

This override by Emily marks Julien’s noticeable agitation that she is always swooping in on his clients with her serendipitous marketing pitches, and he tries to tell Sylvie that he is upset. She realizes later that he is right.

    L’esprit de Gigi

Gabriel asks Antoine (and Alfie by extension) for a race, bluffing to claim that he has another offer to work elsewhere. Alfie runs the numbers, and he and Antoine decide to give Gabriel a stake in the restaurant as well as a name change. Gabriel names the restaurant L’esprit de Gigi after his grandmother, who taught him to cook when he was a young boy growing up in Normandie.

Back in Provence before the Lavande de Lavaux event for the McLaren and Antoine’s perfume, Gabriel took Emily to lunch at a Michelin-star restaurant, where he got the inspiration to pursue a star of his own. Emily’s coworker Luc (Bruno Gouery) happens to know a Michelin inspector whom he used to date, Marianne (Laurance Gormezano), and Emily begs him to bring her to Gabriel’s restaurant without him knowing. Luc reports later that things seem to be moving in the right direction of Gabriel’s dreams.

    Camille and Gabriel’s Wedding

Nicolas and Mindy are late to Camille’s engagement dinner because they were in a fight about Nicolas coldly telling Emily to leave an event celebrating Mindy’s last gig at La Trompette Bleu. He says that Emily is just leaving, giving Emily no choice but to depart after Mindy asks her that they make up. Alfie tells Mindy what really went down behind the scenes, and she confronts Nicolas about it. While she is waiting for him to pick her up on the way to Champagne, Benoît comes back to tell Mindy that he didn’t want to sell his song “Mon Soleil” to Nicolas because he submitted it for the Eurovision song contest. They have a moment before Nicolas picks Mindy up so they can fly to Champagne by helicopter.

What starts out as an engagement party at Camille’s parents’ countryside estate quickly becomes a spur-of-the-moment wedding as the residing priest is present, and Gabriel feels moved to marry Camille then and there.

However, before they can fully commit to each other, Camille confesses that she cannot marry Gabriel because she knows he still has feelings for Emily, and that Emily reciprocates those feelings. She walks out of the ceremony, leaving Gabriel at the altar, and Alfie shortly follows because he has always suspected something between Emily and Gabriel.

Left to pick up the pieces and make sense of what just happened, Emily and Gabriel talk, and Gabriel confesses that when Camille returned, she told Gabriel she was pregnant.
