    ‘The Seed Of The Sacred Fig’ Among 13 German Films Submitted For International Oscar

    German Films has said it has received 13 film submissions for this year’s international Oscar race. Those films include Mohammad Rasoulof’s Cannes Competition title The Seed Of The Sacred Fig and The Investigation by RP Kahl. The Seed of the Sacred Fig follows Iman, a judge in the Revolutionary Court in Tehran, who grapples with mistrust and paranoia as nationwide political protests intensify. Rasoulof presented the film in Cannes after fleeing his home country of Iran. He had been handed an eight-year prison sentence by Iranian authorities for unauthorized filmmaking. The selection of the German entry will take place on August 21 and 22 in Munich. Check out the full list of German movies here .

    Gary Lineker’s Goalhanger Signs Development Exec

    Gary Lineker’s podcast outfit Goalhanger has signed up an Executive Producer – Development. Nicole Logan joins from Reduced Listening, a rival outfit. She will lead efforts to find talent, pilot shows, and take them all the way to launch. Past credits include Nailing It for Spotify, Arlo Park’s Dream Fuel and Gilles Peterson for 6Music, and The Sleeping Forecast for BBC Sounds. Goalhanger makes the Rest Is… series including The Rest is Politics, The Rest is History and The Rest is Football. It is run by Lineker, Jack Davenport and Tony Pastor. Andy Neilson has also joined as PR & Communications Manager.

    San Sebastian Sets WIP Europa Titles

    Memento Non Mori by Seyhmus Alten, In a Grove by Nino Akhvlediani, China Sea by Jurgis Matulevicius and Blue Marks by Sarah Miro Fischer are the four European feature films at the post-production stage that will compete for San Sebastian’s WIP Europa Industry Award. The winner of the prize will receive post-production services and distribution in Spain.
