EXCLUSIVE: Lionsgate is moving up their Halle Berry starring, Alexandre Aja directed psychological horror movie Never Let Go from Sept. 27 to Sept. 20.

The move comes as Sony and Apple Studios ease back their release of George Clooney and Brad Pitt’s noir comedy Wolfs to a limited release. This allows Never Let Go to get extra play time ahead of Warner Bros.’ big October blockbuster, Joker: Folie à Deux which opens on Oct. 4.

Never Let Go joins Paramount Animation’s Transformers One and MUBI’s Demi Moore horror movie The Substance on Sept. 20.

Never Let Go leaves the Lionsgate distributed Francis Ford Coppola title Megalopolis on Sept. 27 along with Universal/DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot as well as IFC’s Azrael.

Aja directed the alligator pre-Covid horror movie Crawl, and the reboot of The Hills Have Eyes. As evil takes over the world beyond one’s front doorstep, the only protection for a mother, played by Oscar winner Berry, and her twin sons is their house and their family’s protective bond. Needing to stay connected at all times – even tethering themselves with ropes – they cling to one another, urging each other to never let go. But when one of the boys questions if the evil is real, the ties that bind them together are severed, triggering a terrifying fight for survival. Percy Daggs IV and Anthony B. Jenkins also star.

Lionsgate presents the title in association with Media Capital Technologies, 21 Laps and HalleHolly production.  KC Coughlin and Ryan Grassby wrote the screenplay. Producers are Shawn Levy, Dan Cohen, Dan Levine and Aja. EPs are Berry, Holly Jeter, Daniel Clarke, Emily Morris, Christopher Woodrow and Connor DiGregorio.
