Ilana Glazer Sets Next Stand-Up Special ‘Human Magic’ At Hulu

Hulu announced on Tuesday that Human Magic , a new stand-up special from Ilana Glazer, is set to premiere on the streamer on December 20, launching on Disney+ internationally.

The special marks Glazer’s second on the heels of The Planet Is Burning , which premiered on Prime Video in early 2020. She taped it at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre in Toronto in early May, after touring the hour in every corner of the country, playing 52 shows across 48 cities in the U.S. and Canada.

Jeff Tomsic directed the special, with Rotten Science and Glazer’s Starrpix producing.

An Emmy-nominated comedian, actor, writer and producer, Glazer is coming off of co-writing, producing and starring in Babes , the acclaimed pregnancy comedy directed by Pamela Adlon, which Neon released in May. Best known for co-creating and starring opposite Abbi Jacobson in the hit Comedy Central series Broad City , which ran for five seasons, Glazer has also recently been seen starring on Apple TV+’s murder mystery comedy series The Afterparty . Other screen credits include Hulu’s A24 horror pic False Positive and comedies Rough Night and The Night Before .

Glazer’s Human Magic is coming to Hulu as part of its new stand-up comedy brand, Hularious, which launches in November with a new special from Jim Gaffigan. Recently, the streamer has also announced forthcoming specials from Bill Burr and Roy Wood Jr., with more soon to be unveiled. As part of its new comedy initiative, Hulu is also launching a curated collection of licensed stand-up specials ranging from iconic comedy specials to recent releases from 800 Pound Gorilla and Comedy Dynamics, among others.

Glazer is represented by WME, Entertainment 360, and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.
