Prime Video Confirms ‘Last One Laughing UK’ With Jimmy Carr Presenting — Edinburgh

Prime Video has confirmed it is making a UK version of international format Last One Laughing .

Last year, we told you the Amazon streamer was exploring a British version of the show, which has versions on Prime Video in numerous territories, and it’s now going ahead following a tender process.

Comedian and presenter Jimmy Carr will host the show, which will run exclusive on Prime Video around the world in 2025.

In the series, a group of 10 British comedians will spend the day in a living room-style studio together trying to make the others laugh. At the first laugh, the competitor is cautioned (yellow carded), while a second eliminates the player from the game (red carded), and the only way to communicate with the outside is a telephone controlled by the host. The rules are simple: laugh and you’re out.

“It has the holy grail of format development: an incredible simple concept, really universal,” said Cat Lynch, UK Unscripted Executive at Amazon MGM Studios announcing the show today at the Edinburgh TV Festival. She didn’t reveal the line-up but called it “so good — all the people we wanted,” and urged producers in the room to find “the next Last One Laughing .”

Last One Laughing UK is adapted from the Amazon original Documental out of Japan, created by and starring Hitoshi Matsumoto and owned by Yoshimoto Kogyo. The format has become the most watched title of all time on Prime Video in France, Germany and Italy, and had local versions in over 20 territories. Local celebrity hosts include Graham Norton (Ireland), Jay Baruchel (Canada), Eugenio Derbez (Mexico), Fedez (Italy), Michael “Bully” Herbig (Germany), Rebel Wilson (Australia) and Trevor Noah (South Africa).

Usually when I make a TV show with 10 brilliant comics, I’m expecting everyone to have a bloody good laugh, but not in this series. The last one laughing wins. Banijay UK labels Initial and Zeppotron will make the series.
