EXCLUSIVE : Sophie Watts, the former co-founding President of STX Entertainment, has joined the board of UK animation firm Two Daughters Entertainment.

The appointment has been made with a view to U.S. expansion.

Two Daughters Entertainment was set up in 2016 by James Reatchlous. Their first IP, Moley , began with a half-hour special and is now broadcast in 180 countries in 30 languages, including on Peacock in the U.S. The company’s feature slate includes The Land of Sometimes , starring Ewan McGregor, Mel Brooks and Helena Bonham Carter, releasing late 2025. Directed by Leon Joosen ( Saving Santa ), Bonnie Arnold ( How to Train Your Dragon ) and Alan Yentob ( Billy Elliot) are exec-producing alongside Two Daughters Executive Chairman James Reatchlous and CEO Simon Bobin.

The board appointment was announced last night at the Two Daughters Entertainment Gala event at The Academy Museum Of Motion Pictures in Hollywood.

Watts said today: “Having known James for several years and being charmed by Moley from the beginning, it gives me great pleasure to help Two Daughters Entertainment grow and expand in Hollywood as they build their slate. The company’s unique and heartwarming backstory is rare, and this authenticity sets them apart. This, coupled with exceptional storytelling, a world-class team, and outstanding voice talent, makes me confident that Two Daughters Entertainment has an extraordinary future ahead.”

Simon Bobin, CEO of Two Daughters Entertainment commented: “We are thrilled to welcome Sophie as a board member and non-executive director at Two Daughters Entertainment. Sophie is a true pioneer in the Entertainment field, and a visionary business leader who is admired and respected across the industry. We believe her guidance and support can help take the company to new heights, especially in the US where our next stage of growth is focused.”

Watts helped build STX into a significant indie major, first piecing it together with Bob Simonds in 2011. She resigned from her role as Corporate President in 2018 before the company hit a troubled spell.

Two Daughters Entertainment is represented in the U.S. by Zero Gravity Management.
