SPOILER ALERT! This post contains details from Episode 5 of Agatha All Along.

It’s official: Wiccan has joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

After months of speculation, Episode 5 of Agatha All Along revealed that Joe Locke is, indeed, playing Wanda Maximoff’s son Billy Kaplan, aka Wiccan. Even though the revelation proved many fans right, it still came as a surprise when the camera settled on Teen’s face, filled with fury, donning a blue crown just like his mom’s after forcing Agatha and the rest of the coven off the Road.

This is when things start “getting real,” the actor said in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly . Now that we know Billy is a witch — and not just a Familiar aspiring to use magic — “that changes things.”

“Also, we now know that he has the ability to cause harm to them. Therefore, he is now the most powerful person on the Road,” Locke explained. “What does that change in the dynamic of the group and how does that change the future of those relationships?”

Locke has big shoes to fill as the highly anticipated character, especially given Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda is such a beloved character in the MCU. Fans have been hoping for her return since Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness , and introducing one of her sons certainly sets up the possibility that the mother-son duo could make an appearance together at some point down the line.

As shown in the latest episode of Agatha All Along , Billy’s magic is very similar to his mother’s — chaos magic, telepathy and other electric powers, which viewers also got a glimpse of in the final episodes of WandaVision .

Locke worked with WandaVision movement coach Jennifer White for Agatha All Along , ensuring that his magic wielding would look similar enough to Olsen’s, while also adding his own “finesse,” he said.

And also like his mother, Billy is shaping up to be an interesting and ethically confusing character whose actions aren’t always easily justifiable. That’s all part of Billy’s character arc, Locke explained.

“Wanda does evil things but isn’t necessarily evil. Agatha, questionably, is evil, but there’s more to that, as well. We know that he’s been lying to her, and we play a lot with those dynamics of how duplicitous he is. The facade of the fanboy teen, is that completely fake or is that actually still a real part of him? This is the stuff that I found so interesting in playing him,” he said.

New episodes of Agatha All Along are available Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT through October 30.
