Apple TV+ is staying with the spies of Slough House for a sixth season.

Hit Gary Oldman starrer Slow Horses has been re-upped again upon the conclusion of Season 4 on the streaming platform. A fifth season was ordered back in January .

In Season 6, the spies head out on the run as Diana Taverner (Kristin Scott Thomas) embroils them all in a fatally high-stakes game of retaliation and revenge. The sixth season will be based on Mick Herron’s novels Joe Country and Slough House, which are the sixth and seventh books in the series.

Slow Horses has been a huge hit for Apple TV+, accruing BAFTA nominations for Oldman and co-star Jack Lowden and winning a Primetime Emmy for writer Will Smith . The drama follows the exploits of Slough House boss Jackson Lamb (Oldman) alongside an ensemble cast that now includes Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving and Joanna Scanlan. Season 4 kicked off with River’s (Lowden) grandfather, David Cartwright (Pryce), killing a home intruder impersonating River, who was planning to assassinate him. After tracking down the would-be killer’s origins, River discovered that an ex-CIA agent by the name of Frank Harkness (Weaving) was running an operation to raise infants into trained assassins.

Season 5 is expected in 2025. In the past, Apple has unveiled two seasons of Slow Horses concurrently, but there is no word as of yet on Season 7.

Jay Hunt, Creative Director, Europe for Apple TV+, said, “Audiences around the world have fallen in love with the Slow Horses , and I’m delighted that Gary Oldman will be leading this star-studded cast on another acerbic and action-packed adventure.”

The series is produced for Apple TV+ by Heartstopper maker See-Saw Films, with Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, Julian Stevens, Iain Canning, Emile Sherman, Adam Randall, Gail Mutrux, Douglas Urbanski and Oldman serving as executive producers. Season 6 is adapted for television by co-executive producer Gaby Chiappe, with Adam Randall returning to direct.
