Maryland Congressman Jamie Raskin questions Secret Service director about Trump rally assassination attempt
Maryland U.S. Representative Jamie Raskin (D - 8th District) called the attempted assassination of former president Donald Trump "a grave assault on our democracy" in his opening remarks at a contentious U.S. House of Representatives committee questioning of U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle this morning. Cheatle faced heated questioning from members of both political parties seeking answers to security failures at the July 13, 2024 Trump campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump and two rally attendees were wounded in the shooting, and a third attendee was killed. It was the first attempted assassination of a current or former U.S. President since 1981.

One injured in Cambridge shooting, police investigating
CAMBRIDGE, Md. – An investigation is underway after one person was injured in a shooting early Saturday morning in Cambridge. Just after 4:30 a.m., officers were called to the 800 block of Pine Street for a “Shot Spotter Alert”. Officers arrived at the scene to find what appeared to be blood on the roadway and followed the trail, which led to a residence in the 600 block of Moores Avenue, where a 19-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound to his leg.
Cambridge Police Chief Advocates for Extended Juvenile Curfew
The juvenile curfew in Cambridge is once again a topic of discussion, with the police chief seeking to extend the ordinance. Since February 2023, children aged 15 and younger in Cambridge have been required to be home by 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and by 10 p.m. on all other nights.

Delaware shelter offering free flu shots for dogs to combat respiratory disease outbreak
Shelters across the Delaware are continuing to see an uptick in sick dogs and now one organization is looking to help combat it. The Brandywine Valley SPCA announced Tuesday they will be offering free canine influenza and distemper vaccines in response to the canine respiratory disease outbreak across the state.

Jack Morey, the co-owner of Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, died last week at the age of 63, the company announced. “It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Jack Morey, our beloved 2nd Generation Partner, and for the past three decades, the creative force behind Morey’s Piers. Jack wasn’t particularly fond of titles, but was the Company’s Executive Vice President, Chief Creative Officer, and, most importantly, champion of ‘it will be beautiful…we change everything’,” a statement from Morey’s Piers read.
