Speaking at the event in Atlanta, Pauline Frommer, an award-winning travel writer and co-president of Frommer Media, offered show attendees practical advice on travel booking. Traveling is in her blood, as Pauline's father, Arthur Frommer, founded the famous Frommer Guides in 1957. Her tips are based on data analysis, current travel trends, observation and a lifetime of travel -- which Frommer said, "began when I was four months old.

Some of the tips Frommer shared include:

• Book Airfare on Sunday. A recent statistical analysis found that airfares may be 15% less when booked on Sunday. And that's true for domestic and international flights. You'll save the most on flying when you travel on Wednesday.
• Recheck For Best Hotel Rates. You can book hotels in advance to guarantee your room. But, always check the rates again within a few day of your departure. That's because if hotels aren't full, they often reduce rates at the last minute to sell more rooms. Thus, it may be possible to cancel your original room and save big bucks with the last minute change.
• Hide Your Internet Identity. Tracking cookies lurking on your computer can result in higher booking rates for hotels, airfare and other travel. So Frommer suggests using identity-blocking features on your browser, like "incognito" on Google Chrome.
• Exchange Your Home. When you're traveling, your home is sitting empty. But you may be able trade your home with another family, saving a bundle of money. Web-based services like homeexchange.com and lovehomeswap.com facilitate exchanges, provide tips, and even offer points-based systems.
