In honor of Veterans Day, the US National Park Service has suspended admission charges at Georgia and all National Park locations.

That makes Saturday a near-perfect choice for a family visit to one of Georgia's 11 National Park locations. Those include Chickamauga & Chattanooga battlefields, Cumberland Island national seashore, Georgia's historic coastal Fort Frederica and Fort Pulaski, the Jimmy Carter and Martin Luther King, Jr. national historic parks and others.

Georgia's National Park locations are some of the top-visited sites across the entire NPS system. The Chattahoochee National Recreation area received more than 3.5 million visitors in 2022, placing it in the Top 25 parks in the US and visited by more people than world famous Yellowstone National Park. And Kennesaw Mountain in Kennesaw ranks as the most-visited national battlefield park in the US.

One note: while the NPS suspends the fees it collects, you still might have to pay for things like camping, boat launches, transportation, and tours operated by licensed concessionaires.
