Don't Miss Georgia's Two "Free Fishing Days" Remaining in 2024

    2024-06-03

There's still two free fishing days to be enjoyed in Georgia in 2024, when no license is required to try your hand at angling in the state's public waterways. And one of them is coming up on Saturday, June 8.

In recognition and celebration of National Fishing and Boating Week, the Wildlife Resources Division of Georgia's Department of Natural Resources designated Saturday, June 8, as a day when it gives residents a literal "free pass" to fish the state's public waters. Specifically, residents can fish without obtaining either a fishing license or trout license, nor do they need a Lands Pass (WMAs/PFAs).

Georgia residents can enjoy another "free fishing" day on September 28, 2024, on National Hunting and Fishing Day.

To help the public find fishing spots participating in the free fishing days, Georgia's DNR has links on its website to public fishing areas, north Georgia trout streams, state parks locations and kid fishing events.
