Red Wings Not The Stuff of Fantasy
For a team that was in the top 10 in the NHL last season in both goals scored and power-play percentage, the Detroit Red Wings certainly don’t appear to be the stuff of dreams when it comes to fantasy hockey. Though Detroit would score 275 goals last season –...
Sprong Signs With Vancouver For Half as Much
Former Red Wings forward Daniel Sprong was considered the most desirable player still in the free agent market and yet he didn’t benefit much from that status. Sprong signed with the Vancouver Canucks for one year at $975,000 — that’s a salary cut from the $2 million he earned last season with the Red Wings. Based on his 18 goals and 43 points last season, AFP Analytics projected Sprong might get a two-year deal worth $2.5 million this season.

TORONTO — Detroit Tigers outfielder Wenceel Pérez hasn't struggled through a prolonged slump in his rookie season, but that doesn't mean he hasn't been forced to make adjustments along the way to stick around in the big leagues. A mechanical adjustment helped him escape his mini-slump running from...

Analyst identifies a core issue with possibility Lions trade for Brandon Aiyuk
An offseason full of trade rumors, no contract extension and whatnot led to San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk formally requesting a trade this past week. The 49ers of course don't have to to a thing, but it may get ugly enough that they are forced to do something. And that something could very well be giving him a new contract.
Tigers place Reese Olson on injured list, add 2 new players to roster
Detroit Tigers starting pitcher Reese Olson was placed on the injured list Sunday, one day after he left his outing in Toronto after only two innings. The Tigers described the injury as a right shoulder strain. If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on...
AFC team could give former Lions sack leader another career lifeline
When the Detroit Lions signed him in 2021, Charles Harris was a first-round draft pick bust with his career on the ropes as he headed to his third team in as many seasons. He resuscitated his career that season, leading the Lions with 7.5 sacks as he set career-highs in tackles (65), tackles for loss (10) and quarterback hits (16).
Guy Completely Whiffs on Eminem’s Relationship with Detroit
It's not unheard of for talent to leave the place that raised them and give nothing back to the community. It's understandable to a degree. Celebrity life gets hectic, and time is stretched thin. But one of Detroit's biggest stars is a shining example of how to keep a great relationship with the city that made him.
Amber Alert canceled for one-year-old Detroit girl found safe, police search for suspect vehicle

Ennis Rakestraw avoids non-participation lists to start training camp
The Lions rookies reported for training camp duty on Saturday. And while media access to training camp doesn’t begin until the first full practice on Wednesday, the absence of any news from Detroit on Saturday is good news. That’s because teams are required to release if any players are placed on the NFI or PUP lists when they report and get their initial physicals. As of Sunday morning, there are still no indications that any of the rookies will be placed on the lists, which would prevent them from participating in anything on the field. For second-round cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, no news is very good news. Rakestraw had offseason core muscle surgery, also known as sports hernia surgery. The CB from Missouri was limited in reps during OTAs and spring camps. A clean bill of health means Rakestraw will be free to compete for reps and his place in the radically overhauled Lions cornerback room. Update: On Sunday afternoon, the Lions placed fourth-round rookie OL Giovanni Manu on the NFI list. RelatedDetroit Lions UDFA rookies ranked by chances of making the team

Former No. 1 Overall Pick Spencer Torkelson’s New Look Is Turning Heads
The Detroit Tigers have been one of the hottest teams in baseball since the calendar flipped to July. Winners of 12 of their last 16 games, the Tigers are slowly making up ground in the surprisingly competitive AL Central - and they've done so without the help of former No. 1 prospect, ...
Tigers' top pitching prospect continues to dazzle
While Pittsburgh Pirates rookie All-Star Paul Skenes continues to capture the imagination of baseball fans, another top pitching prospect, Jackson Jobe of the Detroit Tigers, waits in the wings. But for how long? Already having a strong 2024 campaign, Jobe dazzled again Saturday for Double-A affiliate, the Erie SeaWolves. The 21-year-old pitched six innings of no-hit ball, posting five strikeouts while throwing 70 pitches, 49 for strikes.
