Detroit Tigers Announce Unfortunate Decision On Reese Olson, Kerry Carpenter
Reese Olson was injured during Saturday’s game against the Blue Jays. The Detroit Tigers have made a series of roster moves, including an unfortunate announcement regarding right-hander Reese Olson. Ennis Rakestraw avoids non-participation lists to start training camp
The Lions rookies reported for training camp duty on Saturday. And while media access to training camp doesn’t begin until the first full practice on Wednesday, the absence of any news from Detroit on Saturday is good news. That’s because teams are required to release if any players are placed on the NFI or PUP lists when they report and get their initial physicals. As of Sunday morning, there are still no indications that any of the rookies will be placed on the lists, which would prevent them from participating in anything on the field. For second-round cornerback Ennis Rakestraw, no news is very good news. Rakestraw had offseason core muscle surgery, also known as sports hernia surgery. The CB from Missouri was limited in reps during OTAs and spring camps. A clean bill of health means Rakestraw will be free to compete for reps and his place in the radically overhauled Lions cornerback room. Update: On Sunday afternoon, the Lions placed fourth-round rookie OL Giovanni Manu on the NFI list. RelatedDetroit Lions UDFA rookies ranked by chances of making the team
Red Wings: 5 Potential Alternate Captains
Since the 2022-23 season, the Detroit Red Wings’ leadership group has remained steady without much fluctuation. Headlined by captain Dylan Larkin, the four-year captain’s alternates were all veterans brought in during free agency: Ben Chiarot, Andrew Copp and David Perron. Though a few other players wore an ‘A’ on their sweater over the last two seasons, this group of four has been entrenched as the team’s on-ice leaders.
Sprong Signs With Vancouver For Half as Much
Former Red Wings forward Daniel Sprong was considered the most desirable player still in the free agent market and yet he didn’t benefit much from that status. Sprong signed with the Vancouver Canucks for one year at $975,000 — that’s a salary cut from the $2 million he earned last season with the Red Wings. Based on his 18 goals and 43 points last season, AFP Analytics projected Sprong might get a two-year deal worth $2.5 million this season.
Red Wings Not The Stuff of Fantasy
For a team that was in the top 10 in the NHL last season in both goals scored and power-play percentage, the Detroit Red Wings certainly don’t appear to be the stuff of dreams when it comes to fantasy hockey. Though Detroit would score 275 goals last season –...

Michigan Native’s Unique National Anthem Overshadows Home Run Derby
The Home Run Derby is one of the most exciting events in all of sports, its comparable to the 3-point shootout, the dunk contest, hockey shootout, penalty kicks, and other all-star/ skill competitions that take place in sports. Both die-hard and casual baseball fans turn their heads and give their undivided attention to the MLB Home Run Derby and celebrate all of the moonshot mania that occurs. I would say this year's Derby was no different but that couldn't be farther from the truth.
