    Body of man who went missing near Point Mallard recovered, no foul play suspected

    DECATUR, Ala. (WHNT) – The body of a man who went missing near Point Mallard on Thursday night has been recovered.

    Justin Letson, 35, was last seen on or around a large group of boats parked offshore of Point Mallard around 10 p.m. Thursday.

    The Decatur Police Department said Letson’s body was recovered from the Tennessee River at around 2:30 p.m. on Friday. Officials said no foul play is suspected in Letson’s death.

    It was a while after he was last seen that people discovered and reported he was missing. He was described as 6’0″ and roughly 195 pounds with blonde hair.

    DPD, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Morgan County Rescue Squad and multiple other agencies searched the area.

    “Thanks to the Morgan County Rescue Squad, ALEA Marine and Aviation, and the Lawrence County Rescue Squad for their assistance in the search,” Decatur Police said.
