    W.C. Handy Music Festival returns to the Shoals

    SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) — It’s the Return of the Mack himself!  Larry Dodson, the famous lead vocalist of the Bar-Kays is coming back to the Shoals and he’s bringing the world-famous Bar-Kays with him.

    The Bar-Kays are headlining the W.C. Handy Music Festival, which is scheduled to start this week and will come to a crescendo on Sunday, July 28, with plenty of events in between.

    Decatur Farmers Market to remain at temporary location

    Dodson and the Bar-Kays will hit the stage at The University of North Alabama Norton Auditorium on Saturday, July 27 at 7 p.m.

    The Bar-Kays have songs including Hit and Run, Move Your Boogie Body,  Holy Ghost, and Too Hot to Stop. The group has landed over 23 singles on the R&B charts in an 11-year span ranging back to the 1960s.

    Lorinda “Pinky” Warren Pryor, a locally known Shoals area artist, is set to open up for The Bar-Kays.

    General admission will be $40 and VIP seating and reception will be $75. Tickets are available at Counts Brothers Music, Ye Olde General Store, and WZZA Radio, (after July 14 at Handy Headquarters.)
