Firefighters respond to Monday morning house fire in Austell
AUSTELL, Ga. - Firefighters from Austell and Cobb County responded to a house fire on Monday morning in Austell. It happened in the 6000 block of Spring Street. No other information was released about the fire. Check back for updates.
Homeowner’s grandson “intentionally” sets home on fire, neighbor detains him until police arrive
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Investigators have determined that a house fire in Gwinnett County was “intentionally” set by the homeowner’s grandson. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services responded to a call from a neighbor about a fire on Iron Gate Court in Lawrenceville on Saturday night just before 9 p.m. The caller said smoke was coming from the outside of the home. The neighbor told authorities that the grandson of the homeowner tried to burn the house down. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find a well-involved fire in the garage which appeared to have spread to the back of the home. All three adults inside the home made it out.
City of Chamblee names Kristen Gorham as its next city manager
The City of Chamblee has a new city manager, they announced in a news release. Kristen Gorham was appointed at the July 16 city council meeting and will start her new role on Aug. 1. As city manager, Gorham will oversee the day-to-day operations of all city departments and staff. The Walton County Humane Society is having its official ribbon Cutting with the Walton County Chamber of Commerce at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 25 at 3:30 p.m. In the meantime, dogs and cats continue to pass through there to their forever homes in short order with many happy “tails” to share.
