City of Chamblee names Kristen Gorham as its next city manager
The City of Chamblee has a new city manager, they announced in a news release. Kristen Gorham was appointed at the July 16 city council meeting and will start her new role on Aug. 1. As city manager, Gorham will oversee the day-to-day operations of all city departments and staff. Lawrenceville house fire believed to be caused by arson, firefighters say
ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A Lawrenceville house was badly damaged by fire Saturday night in what Gwinnett County officials believe to be an arson case. Near 9 p.m., a neighbor called 911 to report the fire in the 3000 block of Iron Gate Court. When firefighters arrived, the garage and the back side of the home were ablaze, according to Gwinnett County Fire & Emergency Services.

Savannah experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday, leading to streets flooding and abandoned vehicles throughout the city. Between 7 a.m. yesterday and 7 a.m. today, Coffee Bluff experienced 3.51 inches of rain ― the highest rain total of any area in Savannah during that time period, according to an email sent from Jonathan Lamb, meteorologist for the National Weather Service (NWS) Charleston Office.
