Macon County Clerk moves some Decatur polling places

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Macon County Clerk’s Office is relocating some polling places ahead of November’s general election.

The voting center for Decatur 16, 18, 19, and 22 will be moved back to the House of Miracles Pentecostal Church at 1503 North Summit Avenue.

Clerk Josh Tanner said these jurisdictions initially had to relocate from the location for the March primary election, as the facility closed and sold to a new owner. Now, an agreement with the new owners has been reached, and voters can cast their vote at the building for the first time since 2022.

Tanner added that this facility is larger and more centrally-located than the prior voting center.

New voter ID cards are being mailed out to those affected, which will include their new polling place address. Before casting their next vote, impacted citizens are asked to make sure the location is printed correctly on their new card.
