DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Macon County Coroner has confirmed the identity of a 19-year-old who was found shot overnight on Thursday.

Amarion C. Gray of Decatur was pronounced dead at the Decatur Memorial Hospital emergency room at 12:36 a.m. He was taken there via ambulance after Decatur Police found him with a gunshot wound in a home near Pine Street and Leafland Avenue.

A 17-year-old male was also taken to the hospital from the scene after he was shot in the abdomen, but he is expected to be okay. Police say he is still receiving treatment, and neither victim is suspected to have shot at the other.

Coroner Michael E. Day said an autopsy conducted late Thursday afternoon revealed that Gray died from “a single perforating gunshot wound of the chest.”

Decatur Police continue to investigate the incident. Those with more information are urged to call them at 217-424-2734 or anonymously call Macon County Crime Stoppers at 217-423-8477.
