DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A new exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Illinois is taking children to new heights — both physically and mentally.

The museum unveiled a new two-story climber on Tuesday Designers were able to recycle parts from another play areas in the museum to create the structure, including the airplane on the second floor of the structure. The project cost $400,000.

Rikki Parker, the museum’s Executive Director, said that just like everything in the museum, kids will learn a thing or two from this new addition.

“It’s teaching them something right? So kids, when they climb, learn healthy risk tolerance, they learn communication and collaboration with other climbers, they develop cognitively,” she said. “It’s just amazing that a structure like this… they’re just having fun, but they’re also learning a lot.”

Parker said the exhibit has been a hit so far and she sees it being popular for a while to come.
