Macon Co. Health Dept. hosts back-to-school service events

DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — The Macon County Health Department is hosting back-to-school events throughout August to provide students with physicals, vaccines, screenings, and more.

Each event will be held at the department building located at 1221 East Condit Street. They are walk-in only and patients will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis — though all Macon County students are welcome.

Parents are asked to bring an insurance card and records, if possible.

Here is a list of what services will be offered and when:

• Friday, August 2
  • 8:30-11:30 a.m.; 1-3:30 p.m.
  • Services: School vaccines, lead testing, dental screenings
• Saturday, August 3
  • 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
  • Services: School vaccines, lead testing, dental screenings
• Tuesday, August 6
  • 1-3:30 p.m.
  • Services: Physicals (for kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades)
    • Those getting physicals can also get vaccines, vision screening and lead testing
• Tuesday, August 20
  • 9 a.m.-3 p.m. (Mobile unit for physicals); 8:30-11:30 a.m.; 1-3:30 p.m.
  • Services: Physicals in the mobile unit, school vaccines and lead testing
• Friday, August 23
  • 1-3:30 p.m.
  • Services: Physicals (for kindergarten, sixth and ninth grades)
    • Those getting physicals can receive vaccines, vision screening and lead testing
